The Late John Geaney The death took place, after a short illness, of John Geaney, Lower Fieard, Cross. Aged 38, John died in Bloomfield, New York where he had lived for the past twenty years. Before emigrating, John played Juvenile and junior football with Naomh Eoin. He continued to play gaelic football after moving to the U.S. where he worked as a painter. A football jersey was one of the gifts presented during the offertory procession at his funeral Mass in Cross church. John's remains were removed from Lillis's funeral home in Kilkee to Cross Church. The chief celebrant the funeral Mass was Fr Pat O'Neill P.P. Cross, assisted by Fr. Pat Culligan Carrigaholt. Burial took place in Kilballyowen cemetery. Well known West Carle singer Patrick Roche sang at the funeral Mass. John is survived by his wife Christine, his mother Eleanor brothers, Patrick and Thomas, sisters Mary, Noreen and Anne, sisters in law, brothers in law, uncle, nephews and nieces.
