Davy Fitzgerald says watching next Sunday's All-Ireland hurling final would be too painful for him.

In a documentary aired on RTE Radio 1 this afternoon, Fitzgerald expressed his frustration at his Clare team not being involved in hurling's showpiece game.

"I'll not be watching the All-Ireland. I'll be golfing or doing something," he explained.

"I don't want to see it. I'd rather it was over and then I'd go over it again and start analysing it. It's very hard when you've a team that could be in the All-Ireland that aren't there."

Also in the documentary, for which RTE's Máire Treasa Ní Cheallaigh was given unique access to follow Clare's 2016 campaign and experience it through Fitzgerald's eyes, the 2013 All-Ireland winning manager cast doubt over his future as Banner boss.

"I don't know what I want to do [next year]. Last year I knew 100 per cent what I wanted to do.

"I could see myself managing someone else, do something different. Because I love hurling so much," he added.
