Clare manager Colm Collins is unwavering in his belief that his charges cannot make as slow a start against Kerry as they did in their Munster SFC encounter.

The Banner go up against the might of the Kingdom once again this weekend as the sides meet in the first of this year's All-Ireland SFC quarterfinals.

When the sides met in the provincial semi-final, Kerry led by 2-10 to 0-09 after they had made a great start to the game.

And Collins stressed to the Clare Champion that they could not afford to let the same situation occur again.

"In Killarney, we gave them a head start. We conceded a very silly goal and then another quick goal. There was always that buffer between the two teams as the game was played out," said Collins.

"Hopefully this weekend we'll be a lot tighter and we'll stay in the game for a lot longer and ask questions of them.

"If you play against a Division 1 team you have got to go for it. If you are slow to start or if you try sitting back, they will murder you, if you give them the ball. It's crucial that we adopt the same tactics on Sunday."
