The Tipperary minor footballers commenced their bid for a third Munster title in a row with a five-point victory over Clare in Cusack Park, Ennis.

The home side made the brighter start and were 0-3 to 0-0 ahead before Alan Tynan struck for the game's only goal in the 10th minute to draw Tipp level.

The Premier County led by 1-3 to 0-4 at the halfway stage and extended their advantage to 1-8 to 0-4 by the three quarter hour mark.
