Former town clerk Tomás MacCormaic also spoke highly of Mr O'Driscoll. "He was an excellent councillor. "He actually served as chairman at one time and while he was there he made a presentation to President Regan during his visit," MacCormaic said.
County Councillor Pat McMahon was a close friend and he said that Mr O'Driscoll had a huge passion for sport.
"He played hurling for Éire Óg and Wolfe Tones and played both minor and U-21 for Clare. he also played rugby for St Senan's and Ennis. He played golf at Dromoland as well, he was an all rounder."
He added that Mr O'Driscoll had been very well liked. "He was hugely popular. He was a great character, he was very witty with a great sense of humour.
