Miltown Malbay manager Michael Neylon was left to rue his side's poor start in their Munster club SFC final defeat to Dr Crokes.

The Clare champions' hopes of causing an upset were ended inside the first 12 minutes when their Kerry opponents hit an unanswered 1-6 which paved the way for a 1-21 to 2-9 victory.

"We'll probably rue that for a long time when we look back because once that 10 minutes was over, we got to grips with the game and we probably dominated the next 20 minutes," he told the Irish Examiner.

"We needed the start Crokes got to be in this game at half-time. We didn't get that and we paid heavily for it.

"We came here to see if we coudl snatch it, but we came up against a better team. We have to use this final as a huge learning experience for us. In a lot of aspects of the game, we matched them, but obviously there was a slickness on the part of Crokes that we found hard to get to grips with."
