League Semi-Finals

(Oldest Posts First)

Can anyone explain to me the point of having league semi-finals. The top 2 teams in Div 2 & 3 get promoted regardless of who wins the semi-finals and finals so you could have a team placed 3rd or 4th winning the league cup yet remaining in the same division. Its a bit of a farce really. Redhills had a great year topping Division 1 yet will have no silverware to show for it.

Would it not make more sense to let the top 2 teams in each league battle it out for the league cup?

i agree..or let whoever performs the most consistently over the period of the league campaign and finishes top, gets the silver-wear

it's a league so there should be no final or semi-final. however the GAA don't understand that concept. redhills won the league this year. kingscourt won it last year. end of story.

ha ha ritchee, you have just proved my point. GAA people don't understand the meaning of "league" do you think the premier lague should be won by the team that finished 4th. imagine if man u had to play man city or tottenham or whoever. get real as previos poster says its about money. the team that finishes a league with the most points "wins" it. it is not a knockout competition it ia a "league" based on a table of performance throughout the season. so richee you are the one talking nonsense. just because it happens in the gaa every year doesn't mean it's right. open your mind.
