Cavan Gaels. Their 12th county final appearance in a row

(Oldest Posts First)

I Just think its a fantastic achievement for any club in any County to be contesting their 12th final on the spin as Cavan Gaels will be doing on Sunday week. OK most posters dont like them, thats the price of success but in all fairness their record in both Senior and Minor this past 12 years is the envy of every club in the county..
Yes they had their barren years from the late70s until the late 90s but their perseverence with their underage structures eventually paid off.
They are an example to every club that underage structures feom under12 up will eventually pay off in time.
Yes there are posters here that will come and slag them off..slag off their performances in Ulster club but their record in Ulster is as good as any other club that repesented Cavan at Senior level.
This year was prob their most difficult at the group stages... It shows teams like Ballinagh are starting to build on their intermediate success and teams like Castlerahan on their underage success..
This can only be good for club football in the County.. Lets hope we see a good County Final with good attacking free flowing football. Less of the stupid yellow cards and may the best Team win and go on an repersent Cavan with pride in the Ulster Club and maybe finaly add that elusive Ulster Club to the Ulster Minor and U21 titles that we already hold within the County..

Theres as much chance of Cavan Gaels winning an Ulster title as there is of a Catholic becoming King of England. NOT GOING TO HAPPEN.

Its nothing really compared to Crossmaglen..

In the 13 years from 1996 to 2008 the club has landed 13 consecutive Armagh Senior Championship titles, 7 Ulster Club Championships and 4 All Ireland Club titles. In that time they played at total of 108 championship matches losing only 9 times with 89 wins and 10 draws to their credit.

Now thats a record to be proud off (at a time when Ulster football was at its strongest) - no disrespect to Cavan Gaels, I'd love to see them win an Ulster title for Cavan but the fact is they have it too easy in Cavan then end up a bit short in Ulster, suppose you can say its not their fault that there's a lack of competition for them in the county.
