ithink the county board really need to ask themselves why kingscourt are aloud to amalganate.the purpose of amalganations is to make weak teams a bit more competive..not to destroy the competition... back to yesterdays quarters finals templeport bet lavey, crosserlough bet ballyhaise, bailiebrough bet southern gaels and st felims bet st killians..will someone tell me who southern gaels and st felims are?

its a joke that the minor league is nearing a finish, young lads wont get football all summer, the minor leagues in armagh and monaghan havent even started yet, and they'll get them finished in time. The county board dont give a **** they want to look good on paper that the have the competation finished, they dont care about our youth. . . take last weekend for example, county minors played in the Ulster league on sat and they had to go back to play with there clubs on sun, for Division 2 teams it was semi-finals..not very fair. A senior player wont do it, and then there worried about player burn out. . . where is NADA for our minors.

What good is it for football in Cavan s goldrick? On their own Kingscourt are the best minor team in Cavan. O Raghaillaigh bet 2nd placed St Joes 3-14 to 0-8 and 3rd placed Gaels 3-16 to 1-4. They are destroying a good competitive division that has 6 other evenly matched sides. They have 15 subs that are getting no football , and im sure other weak players have quit as a result of the amalgamation.

i take your point Badger. but obviously somebody is sanctioning this amalgamation. I don't actually know how many players Shercock have. maybe someone could enlighten us as to the make-up of the team/squad. I am not sure they have 15 subs. there is no doubting the quality of the players...i think that is the issue people have. If they were losing then nobody would care if they had 30 players.

S goldrick . I don't see how they could lose, they have the best team in the county in Kingscourt and a Shercock team that made Roinn A finals at under 14 level and no doubt would be competing strongly in division 2. I know the both clubs naturally want to be successful and I dont have a problem with that but on the county boards part it is nothing short of a disgrace.

Totally disagree ladyluk. For once i have to compliment the county board on their work with getting the minor league ran off before the Summer. Its gives leaving certs time to get their priorities in order (study) and then a break for the first part of the summer. Football is beginning to dictate ones life with the amount of commitment needed and hassle enforced by managers. The Minors should get a well deserved break both before and after the examinations.

Agree 100% with Badger and FootballIsGood .. You can't expect players to play or even train through the leaving cert, it just isn't going to happen. And the amalgamation of O'Raghallaigh should have never happened because both teams were strong on their own with more than enough players to field a team.

Just because O'Raghalliagh don't have more than 25 players on the bench does not mean that both teams didn't have 5 or more subs when they played on their own. None of the clubs in this county are as big as the likes of Dr.Crokes etc. and every minor team uses players that are u16.

Saying that nobody would be complaining if they weren't winning anything is the stupidest excuse I've ever heard. If they weren't winning anything or if they were putting it up to 1 or 2 other teams that were dominating the league and championship in that particular age group then the amalgamation would be validated and could be classed as a good idea. But they're not, they're hammering every other team in the division, including 2nd and 3rd place, which makes the amalgamation a disgrace.

Kingscourt and Shercock should not have been allowed to amalgamate, end of story.

The only 2 teams the didn't hammer were ballymacugh and st finbarrs, not a bit of need for it ,only solution is the rest of the division 1 team amalgamate with someone else

Thats not the solution either. The solution is for teams to stop fulfilling their fixtures against them and let them win it out without playing a game.

Was at the O RAGHALLAIGH GAELS vs ramor game today. ramor went 4 up without any reply but raghallaigh began to play well and clawed there way back into it and a few moments of panic from the ramor backline gifted them 2 goals! didnt help the matter when ramor had a man sent off but over all it was a good solid performance from the raghallaigh men!

maybe I'm just old fashioned but is there really any need to play the minor semi-finals on good friday?..
Of all the days in the year i think it is slightly disrespectful but maybe like i said i'm just old fashioned?

agreed cavangaaboy it is disrespectful. There is nothing wrong with getting young fellas out of bed on a staurday morning to play around mid day or so. good friday is one of the most religious days of the year and should be treated as such

i don't see anyone complaining about O'rahailligh gaels in under-16. kingscourt and Shercock have combined at under-16 level too but because they are not winning all before them then this is deemed OK. just goes to prove that the issue people have with the amalgamation is the quality of the players - not the quantity.

Delighted to see Kingscourt/Shercock in the final today. This team is full of future stars and i hope they can pull of the victory over a somewhat weaker(in my opinion) team,St Joesphs, who i cant really see put it up to us O Raghallaigh Gaels.
