We are in the midst of change and it's painful so you can't compare Val and tommy in that respect
The problem is that our changes seem to go on forever !!
The only thing you can compare them on regarding success ... is the lack of it and the fact that both did drop/antagonise players !! But we will live in hope that things might miraculously improve !! If they don't what will we do then ?

Things don't generally miraculously improve In my experience
Proper prep a good youth policy good attitude that's what get improvement
Hopelessness is generally not good for getting improvement

We didn't use our so called youth policy to cleverly last year did we??? We three them in at the deepens in an ulster championship. Some completely out of position. Yeah Onchlir that's the problem it's the use of these young players that is the problem. They should be blended with experience . Not thrown in at the deep end. That's the MAJOR problem

RichieJ buddy
Niall Murray and Fergal Flanagan were the only two thrown in at deep end the others were ready for it.
McKiernan was on the senior panel two years ago and Niall Mcdermot proved himself on the day.
I think you really need to relax so go for a walk or something.

Look RHF the tatics on the day against Donegal and the way Murray was used was nothing short of amateurish for a game we had 8 months to prepare for. My point is why would they be any better this year? You just don't get it. It's fine giving management the benefit of the doubt but and the end of the day they have to show that they know what they are at. And they haven't. It's make it up as you go along tactics and next year will be no different .. If you look back to the last 2 league games we won, 5/6 backs were the same for both matches. Total backline change bar 1 for the championship and we get hammered. Where's the logic in that??

Look Richie i agree with alot of what you say but you dont have to keep saying it over and over.
Go out and try and do something about it, contact your club if you are a member and try and get them to bring it up at county board level.
Harping on about it here for months on end does nothing for anyone.

Do you think that its possible that the management had to deal with injuries or does this not happen.
If the news I just heard is true a few of you fellows will be very happy

More mystery and intrigue !!
What were you told and by whom ?
A good manager knows how to deal with young players and when to blood them, a poor one does not !! Injuries are dealt with by replacing a lad with experience by someone with similar experience or by swapping a pivotal player to an important area and bringing in someone to a less important area. Not by bringing a newby into a pivotal position and expecting him to play that area as if it was second nature to him. Very few players can do that, especially in an important championship match !!

Amazing
Last year you guys( the negatories) were howling for the removal of the deadwood(a highly offensive term for men who dedicated themselves as amateurs) and when Val changed the team by throwing some young lads in you are howling the very opposite.
We either change things or remain the same and as the old adage goes... If you keep doing the same things, don't expect a different result.
Last year was a turning year a lot of lads saw what championship football is all about and what levels of fitness and physique are needed. Sonharping on and on about last years results won't change them but we do have a bunch of young Players who have a view of what's required and will, I believe, rise to the challenge.
The Negatazoids will continue to howl abuse but the players and management will go about their business all the same
Whinging is not an advisable strategy if we want success
Hard work and continuous learning will bring rewards

We could also and more probably have a bunch of young lads who have become completely disillusioned with football altogether after what happened !! One in particular who was told he was good enough to be given a pivotal role against Donegal only to be made look desperate and then to be taken off early against Longford. How did he feel after all that ?
Ever think of that ?

Seanoroinn,
looks like he took it on the chin and like the good young man he is he has put it behind him.
I hope he did BUT it could have been disastrous and was a poor managerial decision in the first place !!
He was not even tried out there beforehand as the whole defence from the League was changed !! When it was not broken why try to fix it ?

Well Sean they won the last two league games with the same defence playing then he changed it all for the Championship and included new untried players !!
That did not make sense to many of us and as it turned out we were right !!
What do you think ?

When I asked you do you think it was not broken ? if you are happy thinking as you do there is nothing I can say to change your mind. If players are injured or unavailable drastic decisions have to be made. Last years league is over we can but look forward but sadly it will not be as it should have been going forward the way things are panning out.
