Minor League 2012

(Oldest Posts First) - Go To The Latest Post

i hear Ramor have 12 players on the panel at the moment due to leaving cert commitments. Feilding a team will be hard for them this year, with only two minors and 5 under 17s and the rest under 16s why are they in division 1 with such a young team? Getting beat every game wont help them. Castlerahen have 30 at training so they are well fit for division 1 and i believe they will go a long way.

under 16s being 15 year olds? i dont think having half the team 16 is normal for a division 1 team?

Any team I've been involved with has always played players from the younger age group so I hardly think that's a reason to look to be in division 2 as almost every club does this bar maybe Cavan Gaels and amalgamated teams. But I can understand Ramor's argument for wanting to play Division 2 minor football this year.

If you look back to u16 results from 2 years ago Ramor finished with 4 points in division 1, beating Redbridge by 3 points. Now Redbridge have joined with Belturbet to form Erne Gaels, a 3 team amalgamation and yet they somehow managed to be in Division 2. Crosserlough also finished on 4 points with identical results to Ramor and yet they were allowed drop down as well. So if Erne Gaels and Crosserlough are allowed to play in Division 2, why aren't Ramor? And on what grounds is this decision made?

Personally, I think all of them should be in Division 1.

On a separate note, I see the CCC have made ''changes'' to the Minor League format for 2012. They have changed the qualifying system in Division 2 so that quarter finals will now be played as 4 teams qualify from each group. This was the right thing to do in my opinion as it has left the weaker sides with a better chance of making a semi-final. However they have still decided to fix the majority of the games for a Sunday which baffles me as clubs continue to complain about numbers.

As well as this they have changed the fixture list to add in a 7th round of fixtures for Division 2. I'm hoping someone can explain this to me. Why is there a need to have a 7th round of fixtures when there is only 7 teams in each group? This makes no sense unless they have changed the entire grouping system?

Unless they expect teams to play against themselves... Then the ''small'' clubs in the county like Ramor and Castlerahan would certainly be complaining about not having enough numbers! Hahaha

There are 7 rounds in each Division. 6 games and 1 Bye....This happens when there is an uneven number of teams.
