As you know this is a subject I am particularly interested in. My preference is for a proven inter-county manager with relevant experience with minors / U21's. Pete McGrath would fit the bill perfectly for me, but our CB don't have that level of imagination and wouldn't spend the money anyway. Alternatively, I would welcome a local coach / manager provided there was some link to Val Andrews in a mentoring capacity. Val is also well qualified when it comes to Minors, but he can't do both jobs. I have attended a few of James Lovett's coaching courses and I have always been impressed by his contributions, particularly his defence preparation. I don't know what he'd be like as a Manager, but he certainly knows his coaching and he would be a fresh candidate. Others mentioned from the past management are damaged goods as far as I'd be concerned. ondforty (Cavan) - Posts: 471 - 26/10/2010 10:39:35 803496 Link 0 |

Not sure about the manger side of James but as a coach he does know his stuff, the way things are right now in the money front why not give him the jod as manager trainer. I hope that N Lynch does not get it for the man does not have a clue sorry but this is true. respect (Cavan) - Posts: 167 - 27/10/2010 20:16:52 804677 Link 0 |

lovett was coach in cavan for years with 0 success being the result. TONY BRADY would be a good man for the job. diver (Cavan) - Posts: 39 - 29/10/2010 11:25:51 805567 Link 0 |

Tony brady was there before and had jelly, mckeever, gaynor, paddy and sean brady on the team and should have won an ulster .so when he couldn't win an ulster with that team he shouldn't be let near another cavan team.Gary Donohoe for job hoy (Cavan) - Posts: 307 - 29/10/2010 17:22:53 805924 Link 0 |

i think nial lynch should go as cavan minor manager , he has a brillent knowledge of the game and has 10 in a row with virginia college and 2 all irelands ,better than anyone else kmorgan (Cavan) - Posts: 21 - 01/11/2010 16:59:28 807300 Link 0 |

In my opinion, Niall Lynch would bring nothing to the minor position.Virginia won 2 all Irelands only had 4 training sessions and 1 challenge game in 2 years (Very very poor preparation[/), just a very good team of FOOTBALLERS came together at the same time.A person did not need any Football Knowlege to manage them. SORRY not the man for Cavan Football . c.c.observer (Cavan) - Posts: 13 - 02/11/2010 16:07:42 807981 Link 0 |

Lynch won 10 in a row beating football nurseries like BJD. The Voc. schools competition is 3rd div. stuff. McRory cup and Hogan cup is where its at. However Lynch deserves his chance. diver (Cavan) - Posts: 39 - 02/11/2010 17:12:44 808086 Link 0 |

If there were so many good footballers in Virginia, how come the county minor team did not win a match for the two years that Virginia won their All Irelands. Lynch deserves a go. He won an Ulster County Vocational Schools title in 2003, two Ulster and All Ireland titles in 2006 and 2007. Virginia have won ten Senior County titles in a row. If it doesnt work out, so be it! thefacts (Cavan) - Posts: 21 - 03/11/2010 10:47:27 808526 Link 0 |

No one else just the 6. My 1 for the job is Niall Lynch or James lovett.... Not John Brady he has not won a thing on his own... Any word on interviews? bothfeetLR (Cavan) - Posts: 23 - 11/11/2010 19:30:25 814589 Link 0 |

I applaud all seeking the job, but judging by the forum here, whoever gets it is going to be criticised anyway! They are all in for the love of the game/coaching, and want Cavan football to succeed, so quit being nasty and make up your minds to get behind whoever gets the job!!! The back room team of new manager will be very important too, not a one man show as some posters seem to think!!! We seem to be a county of small minded critics in armchairs who always know best! cailin deas (Cavan) - Posts: 68 - 12/11/2010 16:00:53 815139 Link 0 |
