Bailieborough Shamrocks Club Notes

May 17, 2012
Seniors
The senior team has a break from competitive action at present due to Cavan's involvement in the Ulster Championship this Sunday. They have made an excellent start to the league campaign winning all of their matches to date. This is a tribute to the excellent work being carried out by the management team. Training is continuing with a view to maintaining this good run when play recommences.
The Reserve Division 2 team home game with Cornafean fixed for this Friday has been postponed.

Ulster Minor Championship
Best of luck to Michael Argue and the entire Cavan panel as they prepare to take on Donegal in Kingspan Breffni Park on Sunday next. It will be a great occasion for these young players as the game is being played before the senior game and a large crowd is expected. The players and management have worked very hard and hopefully they will reap the rewards for their efforts.
We would also like to wish the Cavan senior team well in their match against Donegal. It is a tough challenge but as the old saying goes "championship is all about what happens on the day", so hopefully the team will perform well.

Under 16s
The under 16s played Ramor United in the semi final on Wednesday evening in Lavey. As usual these two teams proved very difficult to separate and the outcome was ultimately decided by a single point. Bailieborough had been going through a run of bad from up till recently but they showed signs of improvement in the quarter final and as expected they lifted their performance against their old rivals.
On the night Bailieborough had more scoring chances but they failed to convert them thanks to some good defending by the Ramor defence. Ramor raced into an early 2 point lead which the Shamrocks cancelled and then took the lead. Despite a couple of goal chances Bailieborough led by just a point at half time. The second half settled into the same pattern with both teams stubbornly refusing to give in. In the end Bailieborough's one point advantage was enough to see them through to the final where they will play either Crosserlough or Ballyhaise. Whilst there were many good performances on the night special mention must go to team captain Darren Clarke at centre half back who gave a tremendous display of defending.

Under 14s
The under 14s are at home to Laragh United this Saturday in St Anne's Park after which they can look forward to a place in the semi final.

Under 8s and 10s
The Under 8s took part in a blitz in St Anne's park on Saturday last. The event included teams from Cootehill, Knockbride, Shercock and the host club Bailieborough. It proved to be a very enjoyable day with lots of opportunities for youngsters to enjoy playing football.

The Under 10s will take part in the Newry Blitz on the June bank Holiday weekend.

Camogie
The girls are in a good position in the league, with the next game fixed for the weekend of the 26th of May against Drumgoon
