Ulster U21FC: Breffni reach third successive final
April 05, 2012
Holders Cavan beat Derry by 2-8 to 1-9 in last night's Cadbury Ulster U21FC semi-final at Enniskillen.
The victory sets up a repeat of last year's provincial decider at this grade, wherein Cavan will face Tyrone.
This match at Brewster Park looked like it could be destined for a replay but the victors pounced for a late, late clinching goal - half-time substitute Paddy King fisting Jack Brady's Route One delivery to the back of the net to floor the Oak Leafers.
Cavan full forward Kevin Tierney continued where he had left off against Armagh - he bagged 0-7 in that game and struck 1-5 this time around.
Derry managed to get their Aussie Rules triallist Emmet Bradley into the action before the break - and he duly chipped in with three points, while Emmet McGuckian top-scored with 1-3.
But it's Cavan who march on.
