Cavan moved away from the Division 3 relegation zone with a comfortable victory over Tipperary at Semple Stadium.

Tipp, who finished the game with 13 players following the dismissals of Brian Jones and top-scorer Barry Grogan, look certainties for relegation after their fourth straight defeat which leaves them rooted to the bottom of the table along with Offaly. Cavan also failed to finish with their full complement of players after corner back Brendan Fitzgerald was red-carded seven minutes before half-time.

Tipp started brightly and led by 0-3 to 0-2 before goals from Martin Dunne and Mark McKeever helped the visitors to a 2-6 to 0-6 interval lead. The hosts fell away badly in the second half when Dunne pounced for his second goal in the 48th minute and wing back Barry Watters also raised a green flag four minutes later.
