Arva 1-15
Bailieborough 2-6
Arva made it three wins from three in the intermediate championship after seeing off 13-man Bailieborough in Mullagh last night.
The 2016 champions made their sizzling start to this one count by mounting up a commanding 0-8 to 0-1 lead inside the opening 20 minutes.
Bailieborough recovered well with goals from Rory Farrell (penalty) and Gary Daly before half-time but they couldn't kick on in the second-half, as points from Paul Cassidy and Jonathan McCabe paved the path to victory for Arva before the latter's late goal sealed the deal.
Points from McCabe and Kevin Bouchier helped the Leitrim/Longford border outfit to lead by 0-5 to nothing after the first seven minutes and they'd up the lead to eight thanks to Brian Ellis (pictured) prior to Farrell crashing a penalty into their net on 26 minutes to stem the tide for the Shamrocks.
Ex-Cavan senior Michael Argue sailed over Bailieborough's second point three minutes later and their next tour on goal brought them full profit - this time substitute Daly provided the finish, leaving it at 0-9 to 2-2 for the interval.
Brendan Argue's free squared things up a minute into the restart but Arva got going again through talisman McCabe and they wouldn't look back from there.
The Bailieborough cause wouldn't be helped by the red cards dished out to goal-scorer Daly and midfielder Aidan Reilly (second yellow), and although a fantastic score from Michael Argue left them in contention with 10 minutes to go their goose was cooked when McCabe tore through them for a sublime individual goal.
The result sees Arva once again through to the quarter-finals of the Tommy Gilroy Cup race with a round remaining while the Shamrocks must get a win in their last game if they are to finish in the top eight.
