The late Shane Curry The communities of Tullow and Rathoe were left reeling in shock following the tragic death of 30-year-old dad Shane Curry. Shane from Castlemore, Tullow, died tragically, leaving behind his heartbroken wife Tash and his 2-year-old son Cormac. Poignantly, Shane was due to become a father for a second time as the family is due a new baby in November. Shane would have celebrated his thirty-first birthday on November 28. Described as "a genuinely great fella, great father and a great worker," Shane was very popular member of the local community. A friendly, easy-going young man, Shane's tragic death had led to huge shockwaves throughout the area where the Curry family is very well known particularly through the GAA and Tullow Rugby Club circles. Shane married Trish (nee Whelan) from Moone, Co. Kildare, just over three years ago and was delighted to become a dad to little Cormac just over a year later. Shane and his young family built their new home alongside the Curry family home place less than a year ago. Shane was particularly close to his father Paddy and was therefore delighted to be back home in Castlemore to rear his family bedside his dad. Shane's late mother Mary sadly passed away in 1988, leaving behind a large family of nine children, the second youngest of which was Shane. Shane was a loyal and dedicated employee of Milltown Engineering for the past nine years, where he had many friends and was a highly thought of member of staff. Management and colleagues at Milltown Engineering were reeling in shock having learned of Shane's tragic death. Shane's great love was the GAA and he was a very dedicated and committed player with his club Fighting Cocks GFC. He never missed a game and ardently followed the fortunes of his beloved club across all levels. Just recently, he played in the division 3 county final against Tinryland and, although the Fighting Cocks were beaten in the tightly fought game, it was in no way down to Shane, who played in the No. 2 corner back position. Members of the Fighting cocks GFC recalled an enthusiastic player and clubman who, from a young age, played from the juvenile ranks up to the club's senior team. Shane also followed the fortunes of Liverpool FC and late last year made the trip to Anfield. Living alongside Tullow Rugby Club, it was no surprise that he was also a rugby fan. Shane was a past pupil of Rathoe NS and Tullow Community school. He is survived by his wife Trish, son Cormac, father Paddy, brothers John (Irish Bar Tullow), Mick (England), Jim (Castlemore, Tullow) and Patrick (Castlemore), sisters Antoinette (Shillelagh Road, Tullow) and Marty (Butlersgrange, Tullow), Audrey (USA) and Gina (Roscatt, Tullow), brothers-in-law, sisters-in-law, relatives and a wide circle of friends.
