December 10, 2013
The death occurred at his home on Monday 18 November of Tom Doyle, Ballyprecus, Bunclody following a year-long illness borne with great dignity and a real determination to fight this very rate disease with everything he could. Tom was just 56 years old. A guard of honour drawn from Half-Way-House/Bunclody GAA Club and Bunclody Camogie Club accompanied the cortege to the Church of the Most Holy Trinity on Wednesday morning for Requiem Mass celebrated by Fr Pat Duffy, CC, Kilmyshall, assisted by Fr L O'Connor, PP, Bunclody before interment in Ryland Cemetery. Jennifer Byrne provided the music at the Requiem Mass.

Tom is survived by his wife Elizabeth and daughters Jennifer, mother Sarah and father Johnny, Peg's Lane, sisters Ann (Swaine), Ballycarney and Mary (Doyle), Knockea, Campile, brothers John, Ballindaggin and Ger, Clonroche, nieces, nephews, sisters-in-law, brothers-in-law, relatives and friends. His brother Laurence predeceased him. In his youth, Tom excelled at cross-country running, badminton and tennis. He later became involved in coaching underage teams with the local GAA club and went on to serve on committee for many years, where he concentrated on fundraising, heading up the golf classic committee and selling Model County draw and club lotto tickets. He was also involved in Bunclody Camogie Club and was a mameber of Bunclody Lions Club. Tom was a prominent member of Bunclody Golfing Society and Bunclody Golf Club. He liked nothing better than playing a round of golf with his wife Elizabeth or daughter Jennifer, and his weekly Saturday morning golf game with some of his closest friends was sacrosanct.

Tom worked in his wholesale distribution business for most of his adult life and covered most of Leinster, where he was highly regarded by his loyal customers. Tom was born and bred in Ballypracus and loved everything about Bunclody. He was proud to have been one of the first male students of St Mary's FCJ Secondary School.
Tom had a great love for his family. His wife, daughter, parents, sisters and brothers were the centre of his life. His friends from Half-Way-House/Bunclody GAA Club gave him great support during his illness. Their encouragement, friendship and practical help was greatly appreciated.
