Dempsey staying with Carlow

Carlow football manager Luke Dempsey
28 July 2010

Luke Dempsey is expected to remain in charge of the Carlow footballers for another year.

The Rochfortbridge-based schoolteacher has agreed in principle to stay on for a third year, with his reappointment set to be ratified next week. The former Westmeath and Longford boss has been linked with the managerial vacancy in neighbouring Laois, but all the signs are that he will be staying with Carlow.

Demspey has been making gradual progress with the Barrowsiders, but their 2010 championship campaign was shortlived following defeats to Wicklow and Derry in the Leinster SFC and the All-Ireland qualifiers respectively.
