Marty Kavanagh was on a high after firing St Mullins into the Leinster club SHC final.

Destroyer of a much-fancied Cuala in the quarter-final, the sharpshooter's rich vein continued with a 1-9 haul in the Carlow champions' dramatic 2-17 to 1-19 victory over Rathdowney-Errill in yesterday's semi-final.

"There's just unbelievable spirit in the group, such heart and belief in each other," Kavanagh told RTÉ Radio 1.

"We got on a roll after the Carlow semi-final. We were dead and buried in the semi, and the last puck of the ball got us back into it. From there on we gathered momentum. Look at where we are now! It's just the stuff of dreams."

He continued: "It was a big day, a big occasion for us. After beating Cuala there was a bit of pressure on us to perform again. We'd have liked to have won a bit more comfortably but look, we'll take it!"

The Carlow star was already looking forward to the Leinster final against reigning All-Ireland champions Ballyhale.

"We love going to the pitch to train and now we get to train for the next two weeks to prepare for a final against the best team in Ireland. We have nothing to lose now. We'll give it a right good go," he added.
