Derry Board defer McGilligan and Conway hearings
August 20, 2008
Derry County Board officials have decided to defer taking any action against hurling boss Brian Gilligan and ex-minor boss Niall Conway until after the All-Ireland U21 hurling semi-final against Tipperary this Saturday.
Both McGilligan and Conway found themselves in hot water after publicly criticising the Derry County Board over a lack of support and turning their intentions mostly to the senior football setup.
The Derry Board reacted to the public criticism on behalf of the duo by calling them up to answer misconduct charges. Now the pair will not face the Board until after Saturday's semi-final meeting with Tipp.
Derry PRO Sean Gunning said yesterday that the Board are "treating it as an internal matter and will act accordingly once the Under 21s are out of the Championship."
