Super Saturday on TG4
August 19, 2008
TG4 has confirmed that it will broadcast four live Gaelic Games matches next
Saturday 23rd August.
The Irish language station will provide armchair viewers with all the action
>from Saturday,s matches in the All-Ireland Championship Camogie, Under-21
Hurling and Ladies Gaelic Football.
A packed day's action on TG4 starts at 12.30pm in Semple Stadium, Thurles
with a double clash of Galway and Kilkenny. First the two counties square
up in the Gala All-Ireland Intermediate Camogie Semi-Final. The sides have
already met in the early rounds of this camogie competition on July 20th and
finished 3-08 a piece that day. With Kilkenny knocked out of the Gala Senior
Camogie Championship they will be hoping to make amends by making it to the
final of the Intermediate grade.
The winners will meet either Cork, beaten finalists in 2007, or Derry who
were the Gala All Ireland Junior Champions of 2007.
Immediately afterwards the maroon faces black and amber again in the Bord
Gáis All-Ireland Under-21 Hurling Championship Semi-Final. In this game,
Galway will be hoping to make it to the Under-21 Hurling final and win two
All-Ireland titles in a row.
At 4:00pm the channel's live coverage moves to Hyde Park in Roscommon for
two All-Ireland Quarter Finals the TG4 Senior Ladies Football Championships.
In the first match, Leinster champions Dublin take on Tyrone. There is much
at stake, and last Saturday's result when the same two counties met in the
men's championships will not be lost on either team.
In the second Ladies Football match, the three in a row All-Ireland
champions Cork will be play Galway. Can Cork continue on course for a
historic four All-Ireland titles in a row or will the Tribeswomen avenge
their defeat in the 2005 final that started this glorious Cork run?
TG4,s live coverage will be presented by Micheál Ó Domhnaill and Grainne
McElwain with commentary by Tomás Ó hAIlín, Seán Ó Gráinne and Brian Tyers.
Coverage begins at 12:30pm - please see full schedule below.
