Tipperary's Paul Curran gets out in front of Dan Shanahan (Waterford) in the NHL quarter-final at Nowlan Park
Dan Shanahan revelled in the glory after Sunday's two-point win over Tipperary, which saw the Deise into their first All-Ireland final in 45 years.
In his post match comments after the game, Shanahan said: "I've waited 12 long years for this day to arrive, and now that has finally come I'm just find it difficult to sink in."
The 2007 'Hurler of the Year' admitted that while his side earned victory at Croke Park the game could have gone either way in the end.
"This victory, and the prize it has brought with it, is just unbelievable and it is the greatest day of my sporting life," said Shanahan.
"Yes, it could have gone anyway in that thrilling finale, but thank God we held our nerve for a victory that will lift the whole county in a way that it hasn't known for almost half a century."
Shanahan also added that their will be no reason why Davy Fitzgerald's men cannot match Kilkenny next month in this year's All-Ireland final, after the performance put in against the Munster Champions
"We believe we are as good as Kilkenny, in fact as good as any opposition on a given day, and if we can reproduce the hurling and the never say die spirit that held Tipp at bay is there any good reason why we can't do the same in the final?"
