Brogan hopes veteran duo stay on

Dublin attacker Bernard Brogan has pleaded with both Ciaran Whelan and Jason Sherlock to stay with the team for at least another year before deciding to retire from inter-county football. "Ciaran and Jason have been brilliant for us, on and off the park. They still have much to offer and I hope they continue on for another year," said Brogan. Sherlock was an instrumental part of the last Dublin to win an All-Ireland SFC in 1995, while Whelan has been soldiering on at centre-field with the Dubs searching for an elusive All-Ireland title before he hangs up his boots, and Brogan hopes that the pair will continue to offer their service to Dublin next year. "I hope they don't make too rash a decision now while they are upset after the game," said Brogan. "Hopefully they will take a bit of time and decide what they want to do. We would love them to give it another shot, they are huge players for us and hugely influential in the dressing-room. "Hopefully they will make the right decision."
