McMenamin: It's heads down now
August 18, 2008
After a 12-point demolishing of Dublin at the weekend, Tyrone defender Ryan McMenamin has insisted that his side will need to keep their heads down before the Wexford clash.
The Dromore clubman admitted that while it's nice to reach the last four of the All-Ireland SFC again, he know that two weeks of intense preparation lies ahead for the O'Neill County
"It's a very good feeling to get back into the semi-final of the All-Ireland but we're gonna put the heads down. We're up against Wexford, who beat Armagh, a heavily-fancied team. It's heads down and back to two weeks' hard work."
McMenamin lauded Wexford for coming back after their drubbing at the hands of Dublin to reach the semi-finals and knows, either way, that Tyrone, like Dublin were against them, will be going into the Croke Park encounter in under two weeks time as heavy favourites see off the Model men.
"Wexford have battled on. They came back remarkably well after getting beat by 23 points. Any other team, having not been in a provincial final for 50-odd years, would have been happy enough. They're not.
"Jason Ryan had turned the team around. It is going to be a tough game. We're in a no-win situation. It's roles reversal for us. I'd say we're going to be the raging hot favourites and Wexford will be the underdogs."
