Outspoken double All-Ireland SHC medallist Davy Fitzgerald has explained why he walked away from the GPA and why he stands full-square against their policies. Although he has rowed in behind the decision by the Cork footballers and hurlers to make a stand about the county team-manager's right to choose his own selectors, Fitzgerald has no truck with the GPA's modus operandi. "I was a member of the GPA for the first year, but I walked away after that," said the netminder 'cum club and college coach. "I felt that the GPA was all about money.
