Kerry and Dublin rule All Star team

October 19, 2007
All-Ireland football champions Kerry have won six GAA All Star awards with Dublin taking four places on the team, which also had representatives from Derry, Cork, Meath and Monaghan. The big news of the night was Derry's Paddy Bradley finally winning as award having been overlooked on numerous occasions before, with last year's football of the year Kieran Donaghy overlooked at full forward. The Oakleaf County also claimed the full back spot with Kevin McCloy getting the nod over Darren Fay, while Graham Canty, who is Cork's only representative on the side, gets the corner back spot. Half of Kerry's collection of awards goes to the O Se family as they become the first set of brothers to win three awards in the one year, with Marc O Se also named as footballer of the year. His team mate Killian Young claimed the young footballer of the year award. Dublin claimed four awards with Stephen Cluxton holding off the threat of Brendan Murphy, while the awards to Barry Cahill, Ciaran Whelan and Alan Brogan were all predicted. The final two spots went to Meath's Stephen Bray and Monaghan attacking ace Thomas Freeman. Dan Shanahan was named hurler of the year with Seamus Hickey getting the young player gong. The All Star football team for 2007 is: Stephen Cluxton (Dublin), Marc O Se (Kerry), Kevin McCloy (Derry), Graham Canty (Cork), Tomas O Se (Kerry), Aidan O'Mahony (Kerry), Barry Cahill (Dublin), Ciaran Whelan (Dublin), Darragh O Se (Kerry), Stephen Bray (Meath), Declan O'Sullivan (Kerry), Alan Brogan (Dublin), Colm Cooper (Kerry), Paddy Bradley (Derry), Thomas Freeman (Monaghan).
