Mannion delighted with Connacht draw
June 14, 2007
Roscommon captain Karol Mannion has admitted that the way in which the Connacht championship was drawn has given his side a major incentive to make a significant challenge for provincial honours.
"The draw is a massive incentive. But Sligo will be thinking in the same way. They will see it as an opportunity of getting into the Connaught final and winning a Connacht championship as well. We won't be worrying about what Sligo are thinking. We will be focussing on winning the game on Sunday and getting into a Connacht final," Mannion said.
The Rossies have just returned from a training camp in Portugal and Mannion paid tribute to the venture, stating that the training went well and they returned home injury free which has put the captain in confident mode.
"We are back from a week in Portugal and we had a very good week out there training wise and most of our injuries have cleared up. So we're fairly confident going into the game," he remarked.
Another plus for Roscommon is home advantage and Mannion believes that the fact that his side are playing in Hyde Park could sway the tie in their favour
"We love playing at home in Hyde Park. We feel comfortable there and hopefully we'll have a good crowd behind us. Every team likes to play at home and we are looking forward to it."
