September 25, 2006
Portaferry….1-15 Ballycran…..0-14 Four points, including two from super-sub Niall Magee, in the last three minutes saw Portaferry capture their first Down SHC title since 2002 at Ballycran's expense in Ballygalget. In one of the most pulsating finals in years, county star Paul Braniff's haul of 0-10 ultimately proved decisive for the winners. With two minutes left, Paul Braniff pointed a Portaferry free to regain the lead and inside a minute Niall Magee scored twice to clinch victory.
