Armagh to discuss wide controversy
12 September 2006The Armagh ladies football board is set to meet to discuss the controversy which has placed their participation in the All-Ireland final in some doubt.
It follows confirmation by Galway that they intend to appeal the result of last Saturdays All-Ireland semi-final which the Orchard County won by 1-13 to 1-12. However, Galway believe they scored a legitimate point in the final minute of the game and their claim is supported by video evidence.
“Its all very much up in the air at the moment. We have called an emergency meeting where the matter will be discussed,” said Armagh chairman Larry Crilly.
“As far as the girls are concerned, the game is finished and they won. They are now gearing up for the final on October 1.
“At the match the officials gave the said kick wide. What would have happened if there were no TV cameras at the match? Its just one of those things and I suppose we will have to wait and see what happens.”
