GPA fury over Playstation game
October 12, 2005
The Gaelic Players Association has reacted furiously to the news that the GAA has signed up with Sony to produce a computer version of hurling and football without promising the 'stars' a cent.
GPA chief executive Dessie Farrell slammed the GAA's actions as "disrespectful" and claimed that the players had been denied a chance to cash in on the lucrative deal.
"They told us they haven't violated image rights with the game.
"But to go ahead and skirt round them in another way by using players' names is grossly deceitful.
"The players won't take kindly to it."
The row is the latest development in a long-running feud between players and the GAA over image-rights fees.
