'I had no alternative' - Kennelly

October 03, 2005
Aussie Rules star and former Kerry underage football ace Tadhg Kennelly has explained that he had no option but to pull out of Ireland's International Rules plans due to the wishes of his club Down Under. The Sydney Swans stalwart has been forced to pull out of the upcoming two-match series because of a niggling ankle injury. "It's been a long AFL season and the Swans don't want me to gete injured before the start of the pre-season training," Kennelly explained. "It's disappointing to miss out because I expected to play against Australia, but these things happen and I can't have too many complaints after winning the Premiership with the Swans. "Hopefully the boys will do Ireland proud without me," Kennelly added.
