Declan Browne
Tipperary football boss Seamus McCarthy has hailed his team-captain Declan Browne as a "super man" following the Premier County's victory over favourites Wexford in the final of the Tommy Murphy Cup at Croke Park.
"Declan has been doing it for us for the past seven years.
"He turned it on in the second half when the game looked like slipping away.
"His goal was crucial, it came at a time when we were experiencing a difficult spell.
"He is a super man," said McCarthy.
Declan Browne insisted that the maligned Tommy Murphy Cup competition had afforded his Tipp side the chance to provide football in the county with a tremendous boost.
"It's a huge boost for Tipperary football.
"The backroom team and manager Seamus McCarthy deserve great credit for sticking with us.
"They got their reward today and hopefully they will be with us next year.
"Let's hope this will give Tipperary football something positive to build upon for the National League in the new year."
