Gaels retain Cavan SFC crown
October 04, 2004
Cavan Gaels........1-9
Mullahoran...........0-7
A late goal from Mickey Graham put the seal on Cavan Gaels' third Cavan SFC success in four years at Kingspan Breffni Park on Sunday, October 3.
While the Gaels went into the final as favourites, both sets of players struggled to come to terms with the difficult conditions and it turned into a free-ridden affair.
The first half was closely fought with Mullahoran, managed by former Dublin star Paul Bealin, doing well to be on level terms, 0-4 each, at the break. The early stages of the second half were just as competitive with never more than one or two points separating the teams. However, with the score reading 0-8 to 0-7 in the Gaels' favour, Mickey Graham swooped for the only goal five minutes from time to put the town side on the road to their second successive title.
Among those to impress for the star-studded Gaels team were Karl Crotty, Eamon Reilly, Darren Rabbitte, Michael Lyng, Paul O'Donnell and goalscorer Graham.
