Marty Morrissey thought a telephone call he received to speak at Knock Novena this week was a joke!

The popular GAA commentator thought he was being pranked when Knock's Parish Priest Fr Richard Gibbons rang to invite him and inform him that his RTE colleague Bryan Dobson had previously spoken at the religious ceremony. Fortunately for Marty, 'Dobbo' was on hand to confirm that the invite was for real.

"It was a like a miracle - who was coming around the corner but Dobbo," Marty explained to the Western People.

"I'm not a holy Joe or a holy Marty - far from it, but it's a great honour. I'm really looking forward to it."

No doubt many prayers will be said at the nine-day Novena, which is expected to attract 150,000 people to Knock, for the Mayo footballers to beat Kerry on Sunday!
