Magee: "We'll take the positives"

Wicklow manager Johnny Magee talks to his players.
Wicklow manager Johnny Magee has stressed that last Sunday’s defeat to Meath won’t define their season.
The Royals ran out comfortable winners in this O’Byrne Cup first round clash at Pairc Tailteann, Navan.
However, Magee was keen to look at the positives when speaking to the Wicklow People in the aftermath of the match.
“We’ll take the positives from it. The first half was a write off and the second half saw more structure,” said Magee.
“We missed a few easy frees and we dropped a few kicks short into the keeper’s hands so we should have had 18 points. We have to be more clinical.
“The boys were disappointed in that they know they are better than what they showed. In the second half they employed the game plan better. It’s important to get the lads out again to face Laois. We need to get back out on the field. It’s another four weeks until Leitrim.
“That’s our aim to hit the ground running for Leitrim. You have to learn from defeats as much as you learn from victories.”
