Tuam Stadium is set to receive a much-needed revamp, beginning with the construction of four new dressing-rooms early in the New Year.

A fundraising committee - the Development Advocates for Tuam Stadium (DAFTS) - was set up last year with the aim of bringing the ailing ground up to modern-day standards. Despite being the spiritual home of Galway football, the county teams now play most of their home matches at Pearse Stadium.

In the absence of investment from GAA headquarters, DAFTS members have taken it upon themselves to generate funds and are delighted that the first phase of a planned redevelopment of the entire ground is about to get underway.

The new dressing-rooms are being built at a cost of around €350,000 with the development of a new stand also planned in the near future.
