Cavan's five-year exodus from the inter-county hurling scene looks to be at an end as they get set to line-out a senior side next season.
The Breffni County disbanded its hurling team midway through the 2011 season and after some hard lobbying from its Hurling Steering Committee, the county board has met their request to enter a team into next year's Lory Meagher Cup competition.
Committee secretary Seamus Hughes explained that Kilkenny's Martin Fogarty, National Hurling Development Officer, will take the squad's first training session this weekend.
"The long and short of it is that we have been given the go ahead," Hughes is quoted saying in the Gaelic Life newspaper.
"Training starts this Saturday and Martin Fogarty is coming to take the first session. We want to get good numbers out for that and it's an open session for coaches and players.
"It will be a good chance for coaches to see one of the country's top coaches doing his things."
