Offaly U21 manager livid over sacking

Offaly minor football manager Padraig Farrell

Padraig Farrell has hit out at the Offaly county board following his removal as U21 football manager.

The Tubber man was due to take the reins for a second year, but was recently informed that he won't be reappointed. His sacking comes a year after he took on the role at short notice after a farcical situation had arisen that saw Kilclonfert's Declan Kelly appointed at a county board meeting, only to step down the following day because he agreed to take the job in the first place!

Offaly won the Hastings Cup last January before losing to a strong Kildare side in the first round of the Leinster U21FC.

"Overall, I felt it was a successful year considering we only started training in December and also considering the fact we were the only adult men's team to win a trophy this year," Farrell is quoted as saying in this week's Tullamore Tribune.

"I am very hurt and disappointed. I have been very shabbily treated. It is not right or fair to treat people this year."
