Frost enters GAA Presidency race

Robert Frost.

Clare man Robert Frost has become the fourth candidate to be nominated for the next GAA President.

The former Clare county board chairman, who also served as chairman of the Munster Council up until 2015, is bidding to become the Banner County's second president of the Association. Edward Bennet previously held the position as the GAA's second elected president in 1887.

"He is one of the most experienced officials in the organisation today at any level today and, critically, retains the passion, drive and enthusiasm for the GAA that he has always had over the years. Uniquely, his experience allows him to marry the needs of the organisation at both national and club level," current Clare chairman Joe Cooney is quoted as saying by Newstalk.com

Along with Mr Frost in the running in the hope to take over from Cavan man Aogan O Fearghail are Galway's Frank Burke, Kerry's Sean Walsh and Longford's Martin Skelly.

The election gets underway in February in Croke Park at the GAA Congress.
