Billy Lee could be installed as Limerick's new football manager within the next week.

The Limerick Leader is reporting that the Newcastle West clubman is the hot tip to replace John Brudair, who stepped down from the role over two months ago.

Lee was part of a six-man committee tasked with finding Brudair's successor, but it's believed he took no part in the selection process once he was identified as a potential candidate. The members of the committee are former dual star Stephen Lucey, Limerick football committee chairman John Cregan, Limerick football development officer Gerry Philips, county board vice-chairman Liam O'Sullivan and Mike Mullane of the St. Senan's club.

An ex-Limerick footballer, Lee served as a selector under Liam Kearns between 1999 and 2005. He also managed the U21s and had spells as a county U21 and junior selector. In addition, he has coached a number of clubs in both Limerick and Kerry.
