A 'Super' achievement

October 17, 2016

Rhode celebrate after winning the Offaly SFC title.

Alan 'Super' McNamee collected his ninth Offaly SFC medal yesterday.

The former county star lined out at midfield as The Village proved too strong for a youthful Ferbane team to join Tullamore at the top of the Offaly SFC roll of honour with 27 titles. The success was also notable for the fact that Alan's younger brother Niall top-scored (0-6) in a Dowling Cup decider for a remarkable eighth time.

It was also a special day for Rhode boss Pascal Kellaghan who has now managed teams to senior, intermediate and junior championships in three different counties. The 37-year-old, whose wife is the Rhode team physio, won a junior title in Meath with Ballinabrackey in 2010 before guiding Monasterevan to a Kildare intermediate triumph in 2012.
