Watch: tunnel trouble in Ennis

October 10, 2016

Cratloe and Kilmurry-Ibrickane players clash at half-time in their drawn Clare SFC final at Cusack Park, Ennis.

Yesterday's drawn Clare SFC final between Cratloe and Kilmurry-Ibrickane was marred by an ugly melee as the teams left the field at half-time.

Players and subs from both sides were involved in the flashpoint which Cratloe manager Colm Collins and his Kilmurry-Ibrickane counterpart Aidan Moloney believes would have been avoided if the teams had been able to access the pitch via the new dressing rooms at Cusack Park rather than via the main tunnel in an attempt by officials to stop unauthorised personnel from being on the sideline.

When the teams re-emerged for the second half, referee Rory Hickey issued unused Kilmurry substitute John Sexton with a straight red card, while his team-mate Mark McCarthy and Cratloe's former Limerick midfielder John Galvin received yellow cards.
