The All-Ireland senior ladies football and camogie finals have been designated as free-to-air television events from today.

Communications Minister Denis Naughten has revealed that the finals have been added to a list of sporting events which already includes the senior football and hurling finals as well as The Summer Olympics, Soccer World Cup and Rugby World Cup.

The announcement means television viewers are guaranteed access to the finals on free-to-air television in the future.

"I am adding the All Ireland senior ladies football and camogie finals to the free-to-air designation list and I am proud to do so," Naughten told thejournal.ie.

Today's senior final pits holders Cork against Dublin at 4pm and will be shown live on TG4.
