Galway captain Brian Molloy says they'll have to be at the top of their game to upset colossal favourites Waterford in Saturday All-Ireland U21 hurling championship final.

The Tribesmen look set to be without injured full-forward Conor Whelan for the game and have been priced as 11/2 by the bookmakers against a Deise outfit which possess a wealth of talent, including senior star Austin Gleeson, who is set to mark Molloy in Thurles.

"Whether we're favourites or whether we're not, we're still going to prepare the same way; I know everyone's talking about the Waterford team but they're right to," Molloy told the Irish Independent.

"We've seen what they're doing with the seniors and they're well deserved to be favourites for this game and they've come through two tough games in Munster so we know what we're up against.

"Everyone knows what they're capable of, they have so many well-known hurlers, and while things have changed over the last three years, we know we're going to have to be at our best to be in this game."

Throw-in for the game at Semple Stadium is at 5pm.
