Antrim boss Ollie Bellew was making no excuses for his side's 29-point drubbing by Waterford in Saturday's All-Ireland U21HC semi-final.
"We knew how bad our preparation was, this team was only pulled together in five weeks, and things in Antrim are a wee bit messy at the minute," he said in the Irish Examiner.
"It's been a tough couple of years and that cements it - it tells us where we are and what needs to be done. It's a bit embarrassing for us, the result and the score and everything else."
Asked if a move into the Leinster championship would benefit the Saffrons, the St. Gall's man replied: "I sort of try and stay out of the boardroom politics. I don't know what the answer is, but we really need to be doing something, we need to be competing at a higher level."
