Westmeath manager Tom Cribbin will have to wait and see whether or not Ray Connellan will be available to him again this summer.

The Athlone clubman suffered a heavy ankle injury in the first-half of this afternoon's Leinster SFC final defeat to Dublin which saw him exit the field at Croke Park on a stretcher, leaving question marks over his availability for the Lake County's fourth round qualifier later this month.

The 21-year-old is now expected to undergo scans to discover the extend of the injury.

Connellan attended trials with AFL giants St Kilda this past May, which saw him miss out on his county's provincial quarter-final win over Offaly, and he is scheduled to return Down Under in September.
