Westmeath are sweating over the fitness of forward John Connellan ahead of Sunday's Leinster SFC final.

For the second year running, the Lake County will take on Dublin in the provincial decider as they confirm their stance as the second best team in Leinster.

However, they may have to plan without Connellan who is currently nursing an ankle injury sustained in training and manager Tom Cribbin is hoping that the Athlone clubman will be available.

"John has a bit of a knock," Cribbin told the Westmeath Independent. "He's 50/50, I'm hoping he will be okay. John is a leader on the pitch as well.

"He stays composed and he always seems to say the right thing to the lads when they are under pressure. He is a very good guy to have on the pitch."
