Kildare captain Eoin Doyle believes that there are many leaders in the team.

Following their exit from the Leinster SFC at the hands of Westmeath, the Lilywhites have had to take stock and regroup, which they did as they overcame their first qualifier hurdle when defeating neighbours Offaly last weekend.

Doyle was black carded midway through the second half of the game in St Conleth's Park, Newbridge and he stressed to the Leinster Leader that many of the players stood up to be counted late on.

"The one thing that stood out to me when I was off the pitch was the amount of leaders that we had on the field and the drive that we showed," said Doyle.

"We did not have those against Westmeath for some reason but we had a long good chat with ourselves over the past two weeks but we needed that performance.

"We have trained really hard over the season and finally we got the performance that we knew we were capable of."

Kildare must travel west this weekend as they take on Mayo at MacHale Park, Castlebar in round Three of the qualifiers.
