Carlow's hopes of upsetting Cavan in today's All-Ireland SFC qualifier at Kingspan Breffni Park have been dealt a huge blow with the news that their talisman Brendan Murphy has been ruled out through suspension.
The Rathvilly clubman revealed his frustration on twitter last night after an accumulation of two yellow and two black cards this season resulted in a one-match ban. The second black card came in the closing stages of the first round qualifier against Wicklow in which he inspired the Barrowsiders to a 1-17 to 1-12 win.
Murphy's unavailability sees Eoghan Ruth come in to partner Sean Gannon at midfield in the only change from the Wicklow game.
Carlow (SF v Cavan): Robbie Molloy; Barry John Molloy, Daniel St Ledger, Kieran Nolan; Gary Kelly, John Murphy, Benny Kavanagh; Eoghan Ruth, Sean Gannon; Alan Kelly, Darragh O'Brien, Hughie Gahan; Chris Blake, Darragh Foley, Donal Smithers.
Two yellows in first league game, two blacks for being awkward and clumsy, have to serve a 1 match ban, GAA would drive you mad#jokeshop
